We just celebrated the end of our greenhouse season! Every fall and winter, Innovation Youth’s group of young gardeners make their way to the Concordia Greenhouse after school and manage an indoor garden. This is a fun and educational way for urban kids to access green spaces all year long, and learn about local, sustainable food. They also put grow their skills at community outreach as donations of produce are made to neighbouring day centres for the homeless.
This week we had an end of project celebration. Our urban agriculture project will soon be moving outdoors.
Thanks so much to our partners: Concordia Greenhouse for all the logistics and expertise on greenhouse gardening and to Living Room for providing such awesome volunteers to mentor and supervise the kids!
We want to thank the Mustard Seed Foundation for the financial support of this project.
