Family community garden

Announcing our Family Garden upcoming season!

Every summer, a group of families come together and garden a common plot at the Jardins Versailles downtown. This is such a wonderful opportunity for parents to grow food with their young children (sometimes as young as one or two!) in an urban environment.

Having several families on one plot is a practical solution to people busy work and vacation schedules in the summer- if one family is out of town, another family can step in to do the watering and weeding. And it’s a great way to get to know one’s neighbours!

Last summer we had an abundance of tomatoes, zucchini, carrots, green onions and lettuce.

Why don’t you join us? If you live in or around the Peter-McGill neighbourhood, you could sign up and partake in the work and the harvest. Each family usually goes about once a week to the garden for maintenance. Harvest is split equally amongst participants. Eco-Quartier Peter-McGill will be partnering with us to offer information and workshops on urban agriculture.
